a little draw about one of my favourite character in Tolkien's universe^^.....I was ispired from a Romy Schneider's picture (she was very very beauty!>///< for Finduilas's position...this is one of my few works that I really like^^ (ok, I'm sleeping and my english is becoming terrible ç__ç sorry!)
thank you very much!^^
oh, I never seen nothing about her too, only a pict when the dragon makes to escape people of Gondolin, here there is a maidan who is wachting Turin, I think there is the only image with Finduilas I've seen....It's a pity, I love her!>__<

Yes, i can't recall seeing any images of her.. But this is a lot like i picture her, with the fair golden hair of Finarfin's line, that slightly mischievous smile of a heartbreaker princess and close resemblance of her aunt Galadriel (or grandaunt depending on wheter one trusts Silmarillion on HoME..).
She is an interesting figure in Tolkien's writing also because of what she symbolises and what that tells of the writer's moral ideas.. And she had a sad and tragic end, as did most of those who crossed paths with Túrin.
I'm totally agree with you! we watch the figure of Finduilas in the same way!
I think she remember a little the Victorian maidens in Victorian poems (like Tennyson) and she had a so tragic end like in Victorian and XIX century poems
well, there is another Tolkien's book (the Book of Lost-Tale) where she has more importance, and Tolkien show us a bit how she lives in Norgothrond...also I love her father Orodreth!>__< but I love all Galadriel's family!>__< Galadriel's brothers and father!>__<

It's been years since i last read those books.. perhaps i should pick them up again. I have pretty much every Tolkien book and then some in my bookshelf (ok, not Father Christmas Letters, but.. ).
But yes, that family is certainly interesting.. Finrod Felagund is one of my favourite characters in Silmarillion. Of the great kings of noldor who came to Beleriand he seems the wisest and the most noble of character. He was not as greedy and proud as the sons of Fëanor nor as haughty and quick to wage war as his uncle and cousins. He was a just ruler and had understanding also for the other races as shown by the noble sacrifice of his life in the defence of Beren. (And his singing duel with Sauron is very much inspired by Kalevala.. as a Finn i'm obligated to mention it )
Btw, in Silmarillion Orodreth is Finrod's brother but i recall Christopher Tolkien writing in HoME (part 12, iirc -i don't have all of them) that JRRT would've changed his mind later and written him off as a son of Angrod (or Aegnor, can't remember which), which would've made him Finrod's nephew. That entry also stated that Gil-Galad was Orodreth's son and not Fingon's.. So the last great king of the noldor would've been part of this family too. Interesting.. why he would've escaped the sacking of Nargothrond i don't know -- but perhaps we should just stick to the Silmarillion version as the official and absolute truth. Ah, the amount of useless Tolkien trivia is infinite..
